In verschiedenen Medien wird derzeit über negative Zustände auf dem Jamboree berichtet. Als Deutsches Kontingent können wir bestätigen, dass die ersten Tage auf diesem Jamboree nicht so verlaufen sind, wie wir es erwartet haben.
Das Kontingent des Vereinigten Königreichs hat sich gestern entschlossen, das World Scout Jamboree zu verlassen. Als Deutsches Kontingent ziehen wir diesen Weg zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt aus folgenden Gründen nicht in Betracht:
Zum ersten werden die bestehenden Mängel in den Bereichen Gesundheitsschutz, Sanitär und Essensausgabe regelmäßig von der deutschen Kontingentsleitung an die World Scout Organization adressiert und viele Verantwortliche und Helfer*innen arbeiten aktuell an Lösungen. Verbesserungen werden aus unserer Sicht spürbar, in vielen Bereichen sehr zügig.
Zum zweiten haben wir als Deutsches Kontingent selbst erfolgreich Maßnahmen ergriffen, um den Gesundheitsschutz sowie die angemessene Verpflegung unserer Teilnehmenden sicherzustellen. Es gibt zwar vereinzelte Fälle von Hitzeerschöpfung, derer wir uns intensiv annehmen, jedoch blieb das deutsche Kontingent bisher von schwerwiegenden Problemen verschont. Wir kümmern uns um die Deutschen Teilnehmenden und lösen Probleme mit allen uns zur Verfügung stehenden Mitteln.
Zum dritten ist bisher unser Eindruck aus zahlreichen Gesprächen mit Teilnehmenden und Unitleitungen, dass sich die Mitglieder des Deutschen Kontingents auf dem Jamboree wohlfühlen, ganz überwiegend positive Erfahrungen machen und dieses Lager fortsetzen möchten.
Wir werden die Situation nach wie vor gut beobachten und im Sinne Aller mögliche Entscheidungen treffen. Wir hoffen, dass weitere Veränderungen in den nächsten Tagen spürbar werden und halten es für verantwortbar, den Organisator*innen dafür noch etwas Zeit einzuräumen. Das Wohl unserer Teilnehmenden steht bei allen Entscheidungen stets im Vordergrund.
Statement of the German contingent regarding the current situation at the World Scout Jamboree 2023 in Korea

There are currently reports in various media about negative conditions at the Jamboree. As the German contingent we can confirm that the first days at this Jamboree did not go as we expected.
The UK contingent decided yesterday to leave the World Scout Jamboree. As the German contingent, we are not considering this course of action at this time for the following reasons:
Firstly, the existing deficits in the areas of health protection, sanitation and food distribution are regularly addressed by the German contingent management to the World Scout Organisation and many responsible persons and helpers are currently working on solutions. From our point of view, improvements are visible, in many areas very quickly.
Secondly, as the German contingent, we have successfully taken measures to ensure the health protection and adequate catering of our participants. Although there are isolated cases of heat exhaustion, which we are dealing with thoroughly, the German contingent has so far been spared any serious problems. We take care of the German participants and solve problems with all means at our disposal.
Thirdly, our impression from many conversations with participants and unit leaders is that the members of the German contingent feel comfortable at the jamboree, have overwhelmingly positive experiences and would like to continue this camp.
We will continue to keep a close eye on the situation and make possible decisions in the interest of all. We hope that further changes will become noticeable in the next few days and consider it responsible to give the organisers some more time for this. The well-being of our participants is always at the forefront of all decisions.
